Our index maintenance operation was completed on Monday morning (Feb 21st) and a complete, faster, better search index is now in production.
To improve the performance and quality of search queries, we are upgrading our core search engine and rebuilding our search index. This maintenance operation that will start Feb 18th at 9AM PST and is expected to finish within 96 hours. During this maintenance window, search queries will be answered by a fresh index that is based on tweets posted after Feb 17th 2011.
Button will not be affected by this operation. The trackback and author resources on Topsy.com and Otter API will not be affected by this operation either.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at support@topsy.com, or post a comment here on the blog and we will do our best to reply promtly.
We are seeing two issues. otter.topsy.com is intermittently unavailable and recent tweets (upto 3 hours old) have not made it into the index. We are working to resolve both these issues.
The service is intermittently unavailable as we perform unscheduled maintenance on data stores.
We are recovering the topsy service from the aftermath of the network outage. Some of our in-memory datastores had to be restarted and while these are being reloaded from disk, tweet counts will appear as zero (or not appear at all). No data was lost and correct counts will become available through Topsy.com, Button and Otter soon as reload operation is complete. ETA is about 2 hours. Thanks for your patience!
Upstream network routing issues are causing service interruptions. Resolution is ongoing with upstream providers and on-site network engineers.
